Micro-Patterned Oxygen Wound Therapy

Oxymend™

About the Device

Oxymend™ is a miniaturized, oxygen-producing bandage that can be placed directly into the wound bed allowing micro-patterned oxygen transport channels to ensure oxygen delivery through the infectious barrier on the wound surface. Oxymend™ has the potential to fundamentally transform chronic wound care.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

Key Features

According to the America Diabetes Association, more than 30 million Americans have diabetes with $1 out of $7 is spent on healthcare for the treatment of diabetes and its complications. In the United States alone, $327B is spent per year on diabetes. Oxymend™ is designed to improve the healing and treatment experience associated with chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, and venous leg ulcers.

Our Technology

Deep Penetration

Microfabricated fingerlike projections enabling penetration of biofilm.

Innovative

Novel catalytic process enables miniaturization and is embedded into the silicone.

Controlled

Direct, controlled oxygen delivery with on/off switch and adjustable flow rate.

Safety

Hermetically sealed to ensure dressing integrity.

Continuous Oxygen

An electrochemical cell provides continuous oxygen flow for over 72hrs.

Ecological

Eco-friendly, disposable design to avoid contamination.

Why Oxymend™?

Benefits

  • High Mobility
    Wearable 24/7, Slim Profile, Flexible
  • Low Cost
10X Lower Cost Compared to HBOT
  • Reimbursable
Qualified as a Reimbursable Wound Dressing

Oxygen Production

The current density and oxygen production rate as a function of the voltage. A 2.2 cm² electrode was used to conduct potentiodynamic sweeps at 100mV/hour at 20°C. There is a linear correlation between the oxygen production rate and the applied voltage which enables easy control of the oxygen production rate via the use of a resistor. By adjusting the voltage, oxygen production rates can be set and/or adjusted with a 0.5 mL/h accuracy. This gives oxygen production rates of up to 150 mL/h/cm². Oxymend™ will have the capability to deliver over 100 times the estimated flow rate required for treatment of a chronic wound.
